Governor Wentworth Arts Council is pleased to announce our solo show for the summer, "At the Lake" by artist Cheryl Shanahan.

"At the Lake" will be on view from July 1st till August 26th at Meredith Village Savings Bank. 

 

Whether you are two or 92, Lake Winnipesaukee is loved by many who live here or visit. We appreciate the same views and vistas. We enjoy eating at the same restaurants, bakeries, and ice cream stands. We love being in, on, and around the water. We adore seeing the wildlife in the air, on the water, or in the woods. In a world where we are often divided and disconnected from one another, lake life offers us common ground.

 

I’ve lived, paddled, swam, hiked, and photographed in the area for over five decades. The vivid blues and greens in the waters and pastel skies at sunrise and sunset inspire me. I’m fascinated by the play of light in our pines, hemlocks, and birches. Drawing from my extensive image archive, I work from reference photos that I lightly abstract before I start painting. Acrylic paints allow me to capture the vividness of nature’s treasures. “At the Lake” celebrates all that makes this region uniquely majestic.
