Title: Community Engagement Specialist

 

Reports to: The Board of Directors

 

Description: The Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for growing the organization’s presence in its service area and online to local artists, organizations, and the public. The Community Engagement Specialist will maintain the website and social media accounts for the organization, manage a regular email newsletter, and coordinate promotion for programs and special events. The Specialist will also be responsible for brainstorming and implementing additional methods for outreach and communication.

 

The Community Engagement Specialist will meet with the President of the Board of Directors on a weekly basis. The Specialist will be asked to attend monthly Board meetings, as needed, to stay informed of Arts Council activities. Although most of the responsibilities of the Specialist may be done remotely, there will be some in-person requirements in the Governor Wentworth Arts Council service area: Brookfield, Effingham, Middleton, New Durham, Ossipee, Tuftonboro, and Wolfeboro.

 

Responsibilities:

Website (Wix):

  • Update the website as needed

  • Build new pages as needed

  • Respond to online inquiries

Social Media:

  • Develop content for social media

  • Schedule regular posts on Instagram

  • Schedule regular posts on Facebook

Marketing: 

  • Compile content for the monthly email newsletter (Mail Chimp)

  • Compile content for special event/program email newsletters

  • Write and send press releases for upcoming events and programs

  • Post upcoming Arts Council events and programs with other organizations

  • Design and coordinate printing for event/program promotional materials (posters, flyers, postcards, etc.)

  • Brainstorm and implement one-off or annual marketing campaigns

Communication:

  • Connect new Arts Council members and registrants who complete payment through the website with the appropriate Board member

  • Communicate quickly and clearly with the Board of Directors about work updates and scheduling

  • Update internal calendar of events

  • Be available for some monthly Board of Directors meetings (some virtual, some in-person)

  • Be available for weekly meetings with the President of the Board of Directors (virtual)

  • Be available for some in-person special events

 

Qualifications: 

  • Prior marketing and/or relevant management experience

  • Prior experience managing/building websites and social media accounts

  • Strong written communication and proofreading skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Experience collaborating with others

  • Must have a personal computer and access to a strong internet connection

  • Experience with the arts sector a plus

 

This is a part-time, hourly position, paid at $22/hour. The weekly schedule will vary from a minimum of 5 hours per week up to 15 hours during busy periods, as coordinated with the President of the Board of Directors. The Community Engagement Specialist will be employed as an Independent Contractor (Tax Form 1099-NEC).

 

This is a great position for someone with excellent computer and writing skills who is based in the NH Lakes Region. Most in-person work will occur in Wolfeboro, NH and surrounding towns. We do not expect this to be the applicant’s only source of income; however, we require that the work is done in a timely fashion and attendance at some in-person meetings is mandatory. 

 

Compensation: $22 per hour, 5-15 hours a week.
